Working hard all through the holidays, we tried to create something really special. And now we are proud to present you with our newest character concept. After your email feedback on the archer with comments like “where are her boobs?” and “that is not the ass I like”, we decided to tweak her. This time we used the real game environment to show the unit as it will be in action and… I really like when she is in red team :-)
Don’t forget that Tactical Legends is a strategy game, so units will be far away in most cases. But you always have opportunity to move the camera closer and rotate it.
Now we have worked to place the archer and healer into the game engine. And I can say that it is a really hard task. In contrast to swordsman, (who is already implemented) here we have been faced with several new problems. All of them surround the animation: CLOTH- this is obvious, when you look at the healer ARCHERY – unlike regular weapons, the bow has its own bowstring animation, and arrows that appears in hand and than just disappearing… It will take some time HAIR- yep, our swordsman is bald and we could potentially have to add hair animation for girls. I said “potentially” because they are really far away from the camera most of the time. Hair physics calculations are pretty expensive for performance And also we want to add some close-up details. Are we using Unreal Engine or what? Until the next time!
